Powder manufacturing technology is a very innovative production system initially developed for aerospace applications and for the construction of prototypes. Implants are directly produced from metal powders without employing any physical tool.
In 2007 Adler Ortho® was the first company in the World to launch a product, the Fixa Ti-Por® cup, made employing this manufacturing system, therefore applying 3D printing to metal orthopedic devices mass production. We succeeded converting the powder manufacturing process from a prototypes production system to a powerful mean able to make implants in an industrial way.
Powder Technology allows production of very complicated monolithic three-dimensional metal structures, otherwise impossible to make. It is therefore possible to build not only very complex monolithic custom devices, but also standard implants with 3D extremely rough monoblock surfaces, that are ideal to maximize prosthesis primary stability and promote osseointegration.
Starting from 2007 Adler Ortho® has progressively employed Powder Manufacturing Technology to the production of Hip, Knee, limb salvage prosthesis, Trauma devises, surgical instruments and Custom implants, working with Titanium, Stainless Steel and CoCrMo alloys. At the end of 2017 we opened in Bari a state of the art manufacturing unit completely devoted to metal implants 3D printing production. Today we can offer to Orthopedic Surgeons the most comprehensive portfolio in the World of products manufactured employing Powder Technology.
